John Rubsamen, Senior Director of Meetings and Events, Americans for the Arts

John Rubsamen is the Senior Director of Meetings and Events at Americans for the Arts, the leading nonprofit organization for advancing the arts across America. With more than 20 years of experience in managing business events and tradeshows domestically and internationally, John is focused on long-term strategic development, growth, and sustainability of business events within the association market.

He has successfully led initiatives to design conferences that are diverse, equitable, inclusive, and accessible for all attendees.

As an active member of the Professional Convention Management Association’s Capital Chapter, he has served as a Committee Chair, on the Board of Directors, Treasurer, President, and is currently the immediate past president of the Capital Chapter.

John has spoken at several conferences including the PCMA Education Conference, and multiple International Professional Exchanges on topics like “Evaluating the Value of Your Business Events”, “Industry Trends and Forecasts”, “International Contract Negotiations”, and “Embracing Cultural Differences While Planning Events Globally”.

In addition, John has served on several customer advisory boards for destinations, vendors, and hotels focusing on initiatives to promote economic impact, emergency preparedness, partnerships, and destination infrastructure for the future of travel and business events.
