Code of Conduct

PCMA is a listening organization focused on its participants. The Education Conference is designed to increase interaction, engagement, collaboration, connectivity, and community, in a fun and safe learning environment.

We value the participation of each member of the community and endeavor to deliver an enjoyable and fulfilling experience. Conference participants are expected to conduct themselves with integrity, courtesy and respect for others and maintain the highest level of professionalism at all conference programs and events, whether officially sponsored by PCMA or not.

All attendees, speakers, organizers, volunteers, partners, vendors and staff at any PCMA event are required to observe the following Code of Conduct.

PCMA is dedicated to providing a harassment-free conference experience for everyone, regardless of gender, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race or religion. We do not tolerate harassment of conference participants in any form.

All communication should be appropriate for a professional audience including people of diverse backgrounds and cultures. Sexual language and imagery are not appropriate for the conference.

Be kind to others. Do not insult or defame participants. Harassment in any form, sexist, racist or exclusionary jokes are not condoned at PCMA Events.

Participants violating these rules may be asked to leave the conference at the sole discretion of PCMA. Thank for helping to make this a welcoming event for all.

Harassment includes offensive verbal comments related to gender, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, religion, sexual images in public spaces, deliberate intimidation, stalking, following, harassing photography or recording, sustained disruption of talks or other events, inappropriate physical contact, derisive comments regarding technical background, and unwelcome sexual attention. Advocating for, or encouraging, any of the above behavior is also considered harassment.

Participants asked to stop any harassing behavior are expected to comply immediately.

If a participant engages in harassing behavior, PCMA retains the right to take any actions to ensure the event is a welcoming environment for all. This includes warning the offender or expulsion from the conference with no refund.

Reporting

If anyone makes you feel unsafe or unwelcome or if you observe someone else situational discomfort, please report it as soon as possible.

We want you to enjoy our event and always feel safe. Harassment and other code of conduct violations reduce the value of our event for everyone.

When taking a personal report, our team will ensure you are safe and cannot be overheard. S/he may involve other team members to ensure your report is managed properly. Once safe, we’ll ask you to convey the specific circumstances. While this can potentially be upsetting, we’ll give you the patience and respect you deserve; bring along someone to help support you if you desire. You will not be asked to confront any individual and all our communications will be confidential.
